TC Conference Guest Speaker - Dr. Clint Cary
We are excited and honored to welcome back Dr. Clint Cary as a guest speaker at the Testicular Cancer Conference 2018.
Dr. Clint Cary is an Assistant Professor of Urology in the Department of Urology at Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Cary is originally from Tennessee and received his undergraduate degree and medical degree from the University of Tennessee. He completed his training in urologic surgery at Indiana University and then completed a 2-year urologic oncology fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. While in his fellowship, he also completed a Master of Public Heath (MPH) degree with a focus on epidemiology at the University of California, Berkeley.
As a result of his training, Dr. Cary has expertise in all types of malignancies of the genitourinary tract. He performs both open and robotic surgery to treat these conditions. While Dr. Cary performs partial and radical nephrectomies for kidney cancer and radical cystectomies for bladder cancer, his special interest involves surgical techniques for advanced testicular cancer in the form of retroperitoneal lymph node dissection which is the majority of his clinical practice.
Dr. Cary’s research interests predominantly focus on the surgical management of advanced testicular cancer and subsequent outcomes. He leads the urologic oncology research effort within the Department of Urology. Additionally, he is funded by the National Cancer Institute division of the National Institutes of Health through a K23 grant to study patterns of care in non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. He is the co-director of the Community Outreach division within the Indiana University Simon Cancer Center, which coordinates all cancer research and community engagement efforts throughout the state of Indiana
Dr. Cary is involved in the Society of Urology Oncology, American Urological Association, and the North Central Section of the American Urological Association. He has published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles on prostate, bladder, kidney, and testicular cancer. He has authors text-book chapters on the surgical management of testicular and bladder cancer. He has demonstrated RPLND techniques in surgery within Europe and served as an invited lecturer and visiting professor internationally on the topic of advanced testicular cancer.
