April is Testicular Cancer Awareness Month: Take Action. Raise Awareness. Make a Difference.
As we mark Testicular Cancer Awareness Month this April, the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation reflects on the incredible progress made in the fight against testicular cancer—and the important role awareness plays in ensuring that more men are diagnosed early and treated successfully.
This month serves as a time to not only educate the public about the importance of early detection through the practice of monthly self-exams but also to honor the lives impacted by this disease. Thanks to highly effective medical treatments, testicular cancer has a cure rate of over 95% when detected early. However, we know that there is still work to be done.
A New Look to Reflect Our Mission: Introducing Purple
This month, Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation is unveiling an exciting rebranding initiative to further our commitment to increasing awareness, education, and support. Historically, purple, or orchid, has been recognized as the color associated with testicular cancer. The word 'orchid' comes from 'orchis,' the ancient Greek word for testicle, which is why the color was chosen for testicular cancer awareness. Purple is a powerful and meaningful color that symbolizes the strength and resilience of those battling this disease.
To strengthen the connection between our mission and this global symbol, we’re proud to announce that purple will now be incorporated into our branding. By pairing purple with our signature blue, we’re creating a look that not only represents the unity of the testicular cancer community but also honors those who have fought or continue to fight this disease. Our new design reflects a bold, unified vision for the future, one where early detection, research, and advocacy continue to save lives.
Why Testicular Cancer Awareness Month Matters
April provides us with the perfect opportunity to spotlight the critical importance of early detection. While testicular cancer is relatively rare, it is the most common cancer in men ages 15-44, but can strike from infancy to elderly. The earlier a man detects symptoms, the greater the chance of successful treatment. This is why it’s essential that we continue to spread awareness—encouraging men to perform regular testicular self-exams, seek medical attention if they notice a lump, or bump, or any changes from the previous month, and to share this information with those around them.
At Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation, we’re committed to ensuring that every man knows the signs, symptoms and risk factors of testicular cancer. Whether through our educational campaigns or the ongoing work we do to provide resources and support, Testicular Cancer Awareness Month serves as a reminder of the importance of awareness, support and survivorship.
A Call to Action
Throughout April, we encourage everyone to participate in activities that raise awareness and help foster a greater understanding of testicular cancer. By sharing personal stories, we can humanize the experience and encourage others to take action. When people hear about the journeys of others—especially those who have gone through early detection and successful treatment—it can inspire them to prioritize their health as well. Spreading information about the importance of self-exams and regular check-ups helps normalize these conversations, reducing stigma and encouraging men to be proactive. Engaging with available resources, whether through campaigns, educational materials, or support networks, is key to building an informed community that can work together to reduce the impact of testicular cancer.
Every conversation and piece of information shared can make a difference!

Looking Forward: Strength, Unity, and Hope

By uniting under the banner of purple, we create a stronger, more visible force in the fight against this disease. Together, we can ensure that testicular cancer doesn’t just become a memory of the past, but a challenge that we tackle head-on with knowledge, resources, and unwavering commitment.
